A Note for Kids
Be careful online. This is a reminder to all horse-country.com kids, people might
not always be what they seem. Just as horses look sweet but may bite or kick,
people online may turn out to be anything from jerks to unsavory characters.
If you run into someone here, or anywhere else online, who says or
writes things that make you feel uncomfortable or scared, stop
communicating with this person immediately. Talk to your parents about
helping you forward the message to your service provider - learn how to
report abuse. Send the entire message with complete header which
contains date and time stamps to trace the person. Report email the same
as if you have a problem with snail mail which you can turn over to the
federal postal authorities.
Kids should know how to protect themselves because they have every
right to enjoy the internet. Lots of Horse Country families have met in
real life, at horse shows or in their hometowns. But don't ever arrange
to meet a stranger by yourself. That's pretty foolish.

Warning about: Chain Letters, Hoaxes and Urban Legends
Kids should also know that they can be traced by the authorities if they misuse their accounts.
Chain letters waste vital computing resources. Most ISPs
(internet service providers) have rules against chain letters. If
chain letters are found in a user's account, the account may be
closed. Chain letters are the ones who tell you to pass an email around to everyone you know
or something bad (or good) will happen. It's just junk!
